The Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture in February: Continuing to Provide Psychological Treatment and Intervention Services
The Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture continues to provide therapeutic and rehabilitation services, focusing directly on victims and their families affected by various forms of occupation practices. Additionally, the center works to raise awareness and spread knowledge on topics related to mental health, trauma prevention, and human rights, while also building capacities and issuing reports related to mental health and human rights.
Services Provided in February
During the month of February, the center provided psychological treatment and rehabilitation services to 801 beneficiaries, who underwent more than 1,400 therapy and psychological consultation sessions, distributed by gender as follows: 293 males, 508 females including 338 children.
Regarding the classification of beneficiaries, the distribution was as follows:
51 former prisoners
98 family members of prisoners
146 family members of martyrs
205 victims of wars and other categories
The efforts were concentrated in the most affected areas, with services provided as follows:
Jerusalem: 310 cases
Jenin: 87 cases
Hebron: 89 cases
Nablus: 25 cases
Jericho: 78 cases
Tubas: 45 cases
Gaza Strip: 105 beneficiaries (through a mobile clinic)
Additionally, psychological assistance services were provided to approximately 70 beneficiaries through the free hotline service.
Training and Capacity Building
The center conducted several training sessions targeting recent graduates in relevant fields, as well as professionals working in specialized institutions. These included:
First Training: Focused on psychological first aid and crisis intervention, held over two days, equipping participants with theoretical and practical intervention skills.
Second Training: Aimed at enhancing the competence of mental health caregivers, targeting nurses and covering signs of psychological distress, mental health challenges, and positive coping mechanisms. Each workshop included 20 participants.
