The Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture held a specialized workshop to discuss the findings of an analytical study titled: "Challenges, Needs, and Gaps in Mental Health and Psychosocial Services in the West Bank and East Jerusalem", on Thursday, May 29, 2025. The workshop was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Social Development, Nafs for Empowerment, and Médecins du Monde – Spain..
The workshop aimed to review and analyse the study's findings in preparation for finalizing its recommendations. Discussions focused on the challenges faced by mental health care providers, including psychological stress, lack of resources, absence of institutional support and training, and the need for safe and suitable working environments.
Participants shared insights on the importance of developing national policies, ensuring fair treatment of field staff, and unifying efforts under a comprehensive national plan. Proposals were also raised to activate psychological first aid protocols and improve recruitment and supervision mechanisms.
This workshop is part of the project "Caring for Caregivers – Supporting the Mental Health and Well-being of Care Providers", implemented by the Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture and funded by the Belgian Government through the Belgian agency for international cooperation (Enabel).
