On Wednesday 26/6/2024, which marks the International Day in
Support of Victims of Torture, Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Victims
of Torture held a workshop under the title “‘Implementing Practical Measures to
Prevent Torture and Ill-treatment” at Carmel Hotel. This workshop falls within
the project “Strengthening and Enhancing Rehabilitation, Prevention of Torture,
and Accountability in Palestine” in partnership with the Center for Defence of
Liberties and Civil Rights “Hurryyat” and funded by the EU. The workshop
featured discussions on important topics such as the national legal mechanism,
legislative developments, judicial, administrative, and legislative procedures
to prevent acts of torture, practical measures to prevent torture and
ill-treatment, as well as the psychosocial effects of torture on members of
society. Special thanks to partners and individuals who helped in making this workshop
successful: Advocate Alaa Badarneh from the Center for Defence of Liberties and
Civil Rights, Advocate Ashraf Abu Hayyeh from Al-Haq organization, Advocate
Mousa Abu Dhiem from the Independent Commission for Human Rights, Mr. Thaer
Khalil Juvenile Chief Prosecutor, not to mention TRC’s General Director Dr
Khader Rasras and Head of Treatment Department Clinical Psychologist Manar Arar.
