and Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture March Report:
TRC
continues to provide treatment and rehabilitation services and directs its
focus on those affected by the occupation. We also work on spreading community awareness
and disseminating knowledge on the topics of mental health, trauma prevention, human
rights, and others, as well as capacity building, and issuing reports related
to mental health and human rights.
During March the center provided treatment and
rehabilitation services for 537 beneficiaries who had more than 1000 therapy
and psychological counseling sessions divided by gender with a rate of: 221 male
beneficiaries and 316 female beneficiaries, including 262 children. The beneficiaries
were also categorized as the following:
6 cases of released prisoners, 33 cases of prisoners’ families, 49 cases of
martyrs’ families, 219 cases of victims of war and other categories. The work
focused on the most affected areas like: Jerusalem (133 beneficiaries), Jenin
(87 beneficiaries), Hebron (89 beneficiaries), Nablus (25 beneficiaries),
Jericho (78 beneficiaries), Tubas (45 beneficiaries), and the Gaza Strip (36
beneficiaries) through a mobile clinic in Rafah. Services were also offered to 31
beneficiaries through the free hotline.
The center also held multiple trainings
targeting recent graduates as well as workers in relevant organizations specializing
in psychosocial health, psychology, social services, and sociology. A workshop
was held in Hebron under the title of Psychological First Aid, and another one
was held in Jenin under the title of Narrative Therapy, with 20 participants in
each workshop. The center also held a workshop for 20 police offers about torture,
its effects, and ways to prevent it.
