Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture
(TRC) has conducted a workshop on Monday 23/10/2023 under the title of “The
Psychological Impact of Torture, and Best Approaches to Handle Cases of
Torture” for a group of beneficiaries. This is the third workshop of a series
of workshops from the project “Strengthening and Enhancing Rehabilitation,
Prevention of Torture, and Accountability in Palestine.” There were 22
participants in the workshop which took place in the Center in Ramallah.
The workshop aims to raise awareness of appropriate
mechanisms for intervening in times of crisis and providing knowledge about
effective ways to intervene in such situations. The workshop dealt with topics
such as: the psychological effects of torture and the initial methods of
dealing with it by using Psychological First Aid, and crisis intervention
mechanisms. All of this helps participants gain knowledge to be able to provide
services professionally.
The workshop was conducted by psychological specialist Asma
Sharbati from Palestinian Counselling Center (PCC)
