On Wednesday, August 16, 2023. TRC
conducted an open day for children in the Bourin/Nablus area. The activity took
place at the Bourin Council Hall. This event is part of the project
"Improving Child Protection and Providing Mental Health Services and
Psychosocial Support to Families and Children with and without Disabilities
Affected by Conflict-related Violence in the West Bank and East
Jerusalem." The project is funded by the United Nations Office for the
Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the occupied Palestinian territories
(OCHA/oPtHF) in partnership with the Dutch organization War Child and the YMCA.
The activity aimed to provide a
safe and supportive environment for children affected by the harassment, raids,
and ongoing settler attacks in the area. It aimed to empower children to
express their feelings, build positive relationships, develop coping mechanisms
to overcome challenges and difficult situations, and provide psychological
relief through recreational activities.
The activities included a variety
of recreational activities aimed at promoting healing, resilience, and the
psychological and social well-being of the participating children. These
activities included interactive workshops, expressive arts, recreational games,
and group discussions.
Approximately 48 children of both
genders participated in the open day activities. The event was conducted by the
Psychologist Rasha Fakhidah and the Psychologist Noor Hama'il from TRC, in
coordination with Ms. Dalal Jabara, a member of the Bourin Council.
