  • Nablus/Hawara 28/5/2023

On Sunday,  28 of May, 2023, TRC conducted an awareness-raising workshop , at the Hawara Forum in Nablus under the project "Improving Child Protection and Providing Psychological and Social Support Services for Families and Disabled and Non-Disabled Children Affected by Conflict-Related Violence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem". The project is funded by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs/Occupied Palestinian Territory (OCHA/oPtHF) and in partnership with War Child Netherlands and the Jerusalem YMCA.

The workshop was attended by approximately 23 participants, including mothers, volunteers, and members of the community. The workshop focused on defining the concept of mental health, methods of promoting it, as well as psychological disorders, prevention methods, protection and coping strategies, and the foundations of dealing with stress through lifestyle changes. The participants also learned effective strategies for stress management, prevention, and building positive and healthy relationships.

The workshop was delivered by clinical psychologist at the Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture, Alaa Jafar. Participants expressed their encouragement for such specialized workshops that shed light on these important topics, which constituted an additional link in raising awareness and emphasizing the importance of mental health and its continuity and subsequent prevention methods. They called for the holding of more such workshops with a deeper, more inclusive, and detailed concept.
