Sunday, October 23rd, 2022, The Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Victims
of Torture concluded a beginner's training course in the basics of Narrative Therapy.
The course was conducted by social clinical specialists and the head of the
Palestinian Narrative Institute, Nihaya Abu Rayyan, and psychological
specialist Alaa Harb. The course aimed to target university graduates, those in
the process of graduating, and those working in the field of mental health, with
approximately 12 participants.
The
training includes Ice breaking activities; and discussing the origins of
narrative therapy, the concept of dominant stories and alternative stories, as
well as the principles of narrative therapy and the map of external
conversations with theoretical and practical applications. The second part of
the course covered the topics of re-authoring conversations and developing the
preferred story through theoretical and practical exercises.
