TRC conducted series of activities in
commemoration of International Women's day in 2023. TRC
celebrated this occasion with female inmates at Rehabilitation
centres in several cities in the West Bank, including Ramallah, Jericho,
Nablus, Jenin, and Bethlehem. The Center organized a morale-boosting event for
the female inmates, aimed at promoting positive roles in general and enhancing
the mental health, hope, energy, and positive thinking of the inmates in
particular on this special day. The event was held in partnership with the
United Nations Women as part of the "SWASIA 2" project, in
collaboration with the General Administration of Rehabilitation and
Correctional Centers.
This activity reflects the centre's commitment
to promoting community health and supporting women who have suffered from
violence, torture, and detention. It also helps to raise awareness and promote
the positive role of women in society. In addition, the centres emphasized
the importance of holding such events in rehabilitation and correctional
centres due to their positive psychological impact on the inmates and the
importance of utilizing their time in these centres to learn and acquire
new life skills that contribute to their future and better living.
