On
Monday, August 29th, 2022, the Legal Clinic of the Law Faculty at the Arab
American University, in conjunction with the Treatment and Rehabilitation
Center for Victims of Torture, signed a joint cooperation agreement. The agreement
was signed by the center's director, Mr. Khader Rassras, and the legal clinic's
representative, Mr. Ibrahim Yahya, at the center's headquarters in Ramallah.
The
aim of the agreement is to align academic education with practical experience
in order to enhance students' knowledge, sharpen their skills, and prepare them
for the job market. It also aims to raise awareness of the center's activities,
goals, philosophy, and to promote them among the law students.
The
agreement includes cooperation and agreement to hold training workshops for law
students on various topics, such as the psychological effects of torture, the
mechanisms of applying anti-torture legislation, legal documentation, and
others. The center will receive up to 20 law students in its office in Ramallah
or Jenin to introduce them to the nature of the center and its activities.
Additionally, the center will receive one or two students for internal training
at the center for a full semester, where students will be introduced to the
center's activities and contribute to them. They will also participate in
activities, workshops, conferences, and training sessions organized and
supervised by the center.
The
university campus in Jenin and Ramallah will provide necessary halls for
lectures, meetings, conferences, and training sessions, and will refer cases in
need of services, especially among university students, for follow-up,
awareness, and rehabilitation to serve the country and its citizens.
